The East Hartford Drug Free Community and the East Hartford Local Prevention Council is made up of people from the East Hartford community who share a common concern about substance abuse and are committed toward it's prevention.
We are a forum for students, parents,
educators, clergy, the business community, and local government to
participate. The individuals who work with the Local Prevention Council
are volunteers from every sector of the community:

The goal of the Local Prevention Council is to increase public awareness, to
disseminate information, and to implement prevention activities focusing on youth using the Strategic Prevention Framework:
- Assessment: (demographics)
- Capacity: ( mobilizing the community)
- Planning (developing a comprehensive plan
- Implementation (programs and activities)
- Evaluation (how well are our programs doing)
East Hartford is one of five Communities in this region that are involved in the
Drug Free Community-PALS (Partners Acting Locally) Program. The Drug Free Community funding is provided by
ERASE (East of the River for Substance Abuse Elimination) though a grant through SAMSHA. (Substance Abuse and Mental
Health Service Administration’s Drug-Free Communities Support Program (DFC)
